Effect of 1000 deg burn-off on 4130 tubing

What is the effect of removing old powder coating from AISI 4130 Chromoly steel using a 1000 degree burnoff oven? Can it cause metal fatigue or affect metal strength in any way?

If it is in a hard state, it will certainly soften it. You will need to go into a heat treating reference to see how much, or do some real world testing.

The steel will oxidize (slag) so you will loose some portion of the original metal = strength loss.

I do not remember, but you may lose some of the carbon in the outer surface of the metal which could result in a slight loss of strength.
