Gauze for anode bags?
Is it OK to use gauze to wrap around the nickel anodes? or do you need a certain specific material for this, if so what is it and where do you get it?

Anode bags can be made of polypropylene, Ed; gauze (cotton) would be inappropriate and maybe harmful to the plating bath. You can probably get anode bag material from hobby plating suppliers if you can't find polypropylene fabric in a hardware store or such. Good luck.
