Alodize Olive Drab Over Aluminum
Our customer has specified the following finish on a part: alodize olive drab over aluminum, 50 milliohm max. resistivity. Based on my own experience, alodized parts have a yellowish color, not olive drab. Is there anyone who can help clear up the spec?
Thanks.

Anodize can be dyed almost any color. Olive Drab is a very common requirement for military applications. It can be done-no problem

My apologies sir! I must clean my monitor! Your customer is asking for ALODIZE. There is no such animal! Alodine or Anodize? Anodize olive drab yes, but I have not seen any pigmented chromates, not to say it is impossible!

Well, if there is no such product, then I'm claiming the trademark, Bill! Here's my first ad: "All of the benefits of chromate conversion coating and anodizing wrapped into a single process--while presenting none of the disadvantages of either!" :-)
