Alachrome versus Iridite

Could you tell me what the difference is between using Alachrome or Iriditing. I have an aluminium part (inlet manifold) that needs its waterways treated for corrosion protecion against the sea water passing throught he waterways at about 85 Degs C. I remember Iriditing in the defence industry and a friend has suggested Alachrome. Are they similar processes.

Hello Steve. Alachrome sounds like a misspelling. My understanding is that Alchrome, Alocrom, and Iridite are respectively Heatbath, Henkel and Macdermid trade names for the chemical baths for MIL-C-5541 chromate conversion coating of Aluminum.
