Zinc plating vs galvanizing for rust prevention
What is a more effective finish for rust prevention zinc plating or galvanizing?
Thank you.

Asked and answered before, Lori, so use the search engine for many additional references--but in brief:
- Proponents of galvanizing will claim that it is superior because of the formation of corrosion-fighting zinc-iron intermetallics
- Proponents of zinc plating will claim that "zinc is zinc" but will concede that galvanizing is several times thicker and therefore far more corrosion resistant; so hot dip galvanizing by far, although significantly costlier.
