Process on powdercoating aluminum products
2004
Dear Sir:
I have a question about powdercoat on aluminum. We have 1,000 pieces of aluminum products ,for which we are going to powdercoat them matte black. However they were undertaking chemical reaction when phosphating. As major in steel and stainless steel,we are inexperienced in this field. Could you please give us a few suggestions?

Although it is possible to put zinc phosphate on aluminum, it is not possible to iron phosphate aluminum. You have not given us any details, so we have no idea whether there is a minor flaw in your sequence or you are attempting something that is hopeless from the start. It is probably better to chromate the aluminum than to phosphate it.
You need to either retain a consultant or to align yourself with a powder coating supplier and a pretreatment supplier who know what they are doing. Good luck.
