Tin plating terminals

1999

Dear sirs,

2 Questions

I am working in cleaning USA type plug in Kilowatt hour meter I need to clean and or repair tin plating on 4 x terminal blades solid copper 2mm thick 20mm wide 30m long I want to plate / clean 20mm of this 30 mm both sides and edges the top 10mm does not matter as some inside bakelite frame

1. What is best to use to try to remove oxidation from tin plated copper surface

2. how can I plate this again

Tin plating has gone black in colour very bad oxidation I can polish this back to bare copper or very clean tin plate /copper where tin worn though I use scotchbrite or aluminium oxide powder in water to do this with a polishing motor I have tried to heat and rub with 60/40 solder seem has some potential not sure how to remove excess easily to make smooth how to hot dip plate this as this would be easy with small hot pot right shape and place terminal blades inside,it could be done without dismantling meter

If your customer requires tin plate on the terminals, see a brush plating company for a possible system.
