Where can I find the Books/More information on plating ABS

2004

I have been following along in your discourse in plating ABS plastic. Can you follow up with information on the books that are available on this subject? Please try to identify works that can be located and purchased.

Any other information about where we can get the full technical explanation will be greatly appreciated.

I'm out here in Thailand and people either really don't know what is going on in this area or they keep everything a secret.

Thanks for any help you can add to this topic.

Hi Keith. Yes there is some secrecy, but plating on plastic involves a complicated series of etching, seeding, and electroless processes--and it is true that the best have been developed by the major suppliers of plating chemicals as proprietary processes. It is best to locate a supplier and use their matching set of processes.

The MFSA (www.mfsa.org) has available a booklet about plating on plastics.

There is available a book "Plating ABS Plastics" by Don Baudrand.

You can also try "The Practice of Plating on Plastics".

Good luck.
