How to maintain aluminum auto trim that has been de-anodized and polished

2004

I am restoring a 64 GTO.

I have had the anodizing on the aluminum trim removed by a plating shop and they polished them to a mirror shine. My question is, what should I use to maintain the appearance? It has been suggested that I spray them with clear coat, if this is true what should I use to prep the surface before spraying them?

I would prefer to leave them as they are but I am not sure how they will hold up or what to use to maintain the shine.

Thank you and I hope someone has a good solution.

See my response on post number 32281. Good luck!

Have them re-anodized. That will hold up better than any clear coat, and your car will be restored, not modified.

Billy Pruitt: I purchased a 1935 Chev pickup from a neighbour. It had been dismantaled before I bought it. On the back side of the dash panel it said "Built by Billy Pruitt 2007". Are you the same Billy Pruitt that built this truck? If so could you give me some history on it?
Thanks
