SS316 Electropolishing of pipe

Recently we electropolished some welded pipes made of SS316. We found that while the pipes were polished to a mirror finish but the cast stainless steel Fittings like Bends and Tees were not mirror polished and looked like a "matte finish".

Is this due to the electropolishing error or is it natural.

This is not an electropolish error. It is an effect due to the microstructure (the form of the individual micro grains in the substrate). That is why, castings, forgings and wrought material also do not plate with similar results.
