Will stainless steel BBQ rust?

2004

Hello

Hoping there is someone out there who might be able to help.. I am looking at purchasing a BBQ unit.. I live near the sea so I am paticularly interested in the strutural material in the BBQ to prevent rusting.. Stainless steel?

Thanks

300 Series Stainless steel does not rust (at least not in significant amounts during your lifetime). Take a magnet with you to the store - 300 Series Stainless is non-magnetic. Check all the parts that are important to you with the magnet.

If it is subject to sea spray it has to be 316L or better. 304 will rust in sea spray.

If my BBQ grill is less than 304 stainless, and I live near the sea (on a Carib Isle) what can I do to prevent or retard rusting. Is there a product to treat the metal?
