Competitive shooter needs to remove zinc from barrel
2004
I am an active competitive shooter shooting solid brass projectiles, After cleaning the barrel with ammonium hydroxide I have noticed a minute amount of material still left in the barrel, we have determined that this residue is zinc, I am looking for a chemical to actively destroy the zinc during the cleaning process I have read where alkalines are an agent that dissolves zinc.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have solved this problem with.....Believe it or not.....A day-or-two of soaking the interior of the barrel with WD-40 ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] .
