Help with learning the Black Oxide Process

Q. I'm considering starting up a small, yet top line black oxide operation. I can't seem to find much information on the net concerning the procedures required. The how to's and don't do's. If there is any available information describing how and what to do at no or low cost I would be very interested in reading anything in depth.

A. You won't find such info logically and systematically presented on the net for the same reason that you don't find Angels & Demons or Unfit to Serve on the net, Mr. Panker. At this point there isn't a workable economic model that permits it. But there are good books available on the subject, including the Electroplating Engineering Handbook [on AbeBooks or eBay or Amazon affil links] (please see our "must-have" booklist for other good books), and training is available from organizations like www.nasf.org and specialists like Kushner Electroplating School. Good luck!
