DEBURRING OF SHEET METAL

I AM FREE LANCER AND I WANT TO DEVELOP A SPECIAL PURPOSE ON LINE DEBURRING UNIT FOR 0.25 MM COLD ROLLED GRAIN ORIENTED SHEETS.

THE SHEET HAS 0.015 TO 0.020 MM BURR WHICH IS OBSERVED AFTER SLITTING.THE SHEETS ALSO CARRIES A SILICON COATING.

THIS BURR MAY BE ANY SIDE OF THE BOTH THE SIDE ENDS.

I HAVE TRIED WITH NORMAL WIRE BRUSHS WHICH ARE MEANT FOR THIS PURPOSE. BUT IT DID NOT WORK.

THE OBJECTIVE IS TO REMOVE BURR AND NOT TO REMOVE THE SURFACE COATING.

CAN YOU GIVE SOME SUGGESTIONS.

That's a tall order, Mr. Raju . You don't want to buy a machine, you want to develop your own as a freelancer. But you haven't been successful with your own development ideas, so you want someone else to invent it for you :-)

What didn't work about the brush approach? Are you now thinking of sanding the edges, or electrochemically deburring the sheet, or building some kind of masking plan so you can vibratory deburr just the edges? Is your issue the various general technologies, or fixturing the parts, or what? I would think that some kind of sanding wheels, set at an angle of just under 90 degrees to the edge, would make quick work of these burrs. Thanks.

Besides Ted's suggestions, you might want to consider a non-woven wheel instead of a wire wheel.
