Difference between Rhodium and Nickel plating

I am going to buy a necklace for my girlfriend and would like to know what is the difference between Rhodium and Nickel plating? Is Rhodium plating allergy to skin compared to Nickel? Is Rhodium more expensive than Nickel plating?
