Scaling on non-plated surface in hard chrome plating

HOW TO PREVENT CORROSION/SCALING FROM THE COMPONENT AFTER HARD CHROME PLATING ON THE NON PLATED AREA? THE COMPONENT IS TINY AND IT CANNOT BUFFED/POLISHED.

Masking depends on shape, qty., size, etc. Alternatives are, lacquers, paints, hot melt dips, plastic tapes, rubber plugs, etc.
