Titanium coating for golden color and decoration
2004
Dear Sirs,
I am a university student. I am studying " INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING ". I must search on a project called: "coating Stainless Steel with Titanium" (for decoration and golden color). Unfortunately, I could not find any reliable source here in our province.
When I was searching in internet to find suitable sources for my questions; then, I found your site and herewith I kindly request you that, if possible, help me in my case. What I would like to know is:
1) The process of how one can plate or coat stainless steel sheets with Titanium?
2) In which atmosphere this process takes place?
3) Minimum and maximum degree of temperature required?
4) Titanium would be melted or in the shape of vapor would coat the Stainless steel?
Any other information and guides which may help me in this study.
I thank you in advance for our kind and favorable reply.
Sincerely Yours,

Hello Mojtaba. The fact that you could not find a reliable reference in your province is a problem. I like to think that this forum can offer tips towards finding primary reference material, but that semi-anonymous responses from strangers on the internet, who qualifications are unknown and who are shooting from the hip, commensurate with a forum, does not constitute very good primary reference material :-)
The coating you are thinking of is titanium nitride, and it is applied as a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process. I think if you now know the name of the coating you are looking for, and what kind of process is used to apply it, you should now be able to locate some primary reference material. Good luck.
