Bare spots at brazes in Autophoretic coating
WE CURRENTLY WASH, ASSEMBLE AND BRAZE A PART FOR ONE OF MANY CUSTOMERS. THE CURRENT CONCERN IS THAT WHEN THE PART LEAVES OUR FACILITY IT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE PLATERS. THE FINISH THAT THEY ARE APPLYING IS AUTOPHORETIC COATING. WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THAT IN THE END RESULTS WE ARE SEEING VOIDS OR NO FINISH BY THE COPPER BRAZE JOINT. THESE PARTS GO THRU THE FURNACE AT 2050 DEGREES AND I WOULD FEEL ALL CONTAMINATES WOULD BE BURNED OFF. THE WASHING SOLUTION WE USE IS WATER soluble. WE APPLY AFTER BRAZE NO RUST INHIBITOR. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE.

You and the plater should have a 3-way with Henkel, the supplier of the Autophoretic process. Your assumption that all contaminants would be burned off may be incorrect, or it may be a correct answer to the wrong question. I assume that the operation of the process depends upon certain surface conditions to catalyze it, and the prep methods used by yourself and the plater don't leave that area in suitable condition.
