Alternate to shot blasting for hot forgings

After hot forging on low alloy steel, what is the best descaling method. I process by shot blasting where the machine due to wear becomes less stable (more of break down). Also a very poor housekeeping. Is there an alternative process?

Alternate methods depend upon the amount of scale. Mass finishing can work on light scale, but I think you are better off with process you have. Your problem could be with equipment. A good air flow system in your system will do wonders for house keeping.

I am not sure if it would be aggressive enough but have you tried Dry-ice blasting?
