Experience with Teflon coated Galvanized Bolts
Hi!
I've been asked to approve the usage of hot dip galvanized bolts coated with Teflon, instead of a Zn plate/phosphate/Teflon coating system. Has anyone used galvanized bolts coated with Teflon in an industrial or offshore environment? What was your experience? Does anyone have opinions on how well the Teflon would adhere to the galvanization? How do you overcome the thickness of the coating? Our intention is that the Teflon coating system provides corrosion resistance and eases fastening.

Hi.
We have been asked by one of our customers to use TFE (PTFE)coated bolts for marine and bromine environment. We have to rely only on their experience. If you have the name and address of any supplier of coated stud bolts (nuts) we would be glad to get your kind information about.
Best regards,

I've used this application in a marine environment and had great results. I've been a marine engineer for 24 yrs. and never had problems with teflon-coated galvanized fittings.
