Ammonia Flux in Zinc plating
I am an industrialist in India.I own an industry which deals with fasteners. We produce, bolts, nuts, studs, washers to our customers. We recently got into corrosion resistance in our products. We introduced the Zinc plating technique. But we are facing a major problem in this as the Flux we use is ammonia

Amazon [affil links] and there is a very high release of ammonia fumes during the plating process. It is known that ammonia fumes are very injuries to health of mankind and nature.
Kindly suggest a method to decrease the release of these fumes, or at least an alternate flux.

Go ahead and ask your chemical supplier for an ammonia free acid chloride process or the latest non cyanide process . ANY of them could be what exactly you need. Dear Sir,
Contact your chemistry supplier and change your plating electrolyte to an ammonia-free system. Even with an ammonia system, there should not be any evolution of fumes. The technology or equipment you are using seems to have some problems.

Mr Saikumar,
It is unclear from your mail whether you are HOT Dip Galvanising OR Electrodepositing Zinc from an electroplating bath. ammonia Fumes may arise from HOT dip galvanising.
Please first clarify what exactly is being done.

Hi,
It looks like you are using word zinc plating but talking about hot dip galvanizing because there is no fumes in ammonia based electroplating chemistry also only problem is waste water. if you problem of fumes in hot dip galvanizing then check pH of your flux and ratio of zinc chloride : ammonium chloride.
