Minimum coating thickness against HF
What minimunm thickness of monel alloy coating on mild steel substrate will be enough against general corrosion of hydrofluoric acid. Could anybody help me with explanation.

No one can help you without more information. HF concentration, liquid or gas, temperature and contact time. It is my understanding that monel will work fairly well against some chloride solutions, but I doubt if it will last a long time with HF. Consider teflon or polyethylene. Some vinyl coatings will work also.

Thank you for responding. Sir Ref. "Corrosion Engineering " by Fontanna, gives that monel is good against HF at room temperature up to boiling but I don't have any experience of coating thickness . The answers to the questions you asked are Liquid HF for both below and above 50% conc. Lifetime contact and From room temperature to sometimes 80 °C waiting for answer......
