The role of Rochelle salt in electroless Cobalt-Nickel baths
I'm trying to produce Cobalt-Nickel Nanowires by electroless deposition. I've recently found the Rochelle Salt (Potassium Sodium Tartrate tetrahydrate) ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] as a component of an electroless Cobalt Nickel bath. I haven't found what is the role of this component, does anyone have an idea?

First of two simultaneous responses --
It is a complexing agent. Without a complexer, you'll find that the metals precipitate out as hydroxides.

The tartrate is a complexant.
