Nickel electroplating graduation project

I would be pleased if you answer my questions, which will help me for my graduation project what are the perfect conditions for nickel electroplating: Current? pH? Normality of Ni sulphate? "Orother" Time?

Thank you

Bilal B.

For bright nickel plating you need a current of 40 Amps/square foot, pH between about 4.0 and 4.5, temperature of 140 °F. A Watts nickel formulation with nickel sulphate, nickel chloride, boric acid, primary brightener, secondary brightener, and wetting agent. You may not need perfect for a school project, depending on your grade level.

Detailed help is available in the Metal Finishing Guidebook, the Electroplating Engineering Handbook [on AbeBooks or eBay or Amazon affil links] , ASM Metals Handbook Vol. 5, the Canning Handbook, or other plating textbooks. Your advisor probably should not have accepted this project unless one or more of these plating books available in your library, Bilal, so lean on him/her to help you locate some plating books.
