No. 4 finishing on laser cut 20-mil flat bar
2004
Hi there,
How are you all? hope well. I am just a welder fabricator of stainless steel jobbing. I mainly do balustrades so in my job line I get so many flat bar and angel iron to give no 4 finish. I use 60grit sanding disk followed by 80 and 120 and then finally I use scotch brite belt. It takes a a bit long time to finish one piece. I am just wondering how can I speed up my polishing time coz my boss thinks that I am not doing right way, thats why I am taking so long to finish my job. Please advise me what can I do to get it done fast.
Thanks and take care.

If you are starting out with 60 grit, the metal you are working with must be pretty rough. Succeeding step are typical; therefore, the only way to improve time is to try to create a fixed pass through wheel system (semi-automatic) or start out with a better surface finish bar metal. Lastly, maybe ask your boss to do it himself.
