Polishing stainless on Semi Trailer to mirror finish
Q. I'm looking for some one that can help me with the steps I need to polish the back end (stainless frame parts) on a semi trailer that enclose the doors. I'm a Aluminum polisher for Big Trucks and have an inquiry to polish the back and both sides that enclose the door. The stainless has a lot of grain. What grit sandpaper would I start at and finish at. Plus the surface must be a mirror finish. I have done a little of this before, But I didn't want to be too aggressive. Last time it looked OK but could have been better. Any help would be great.

A. I would First use a FINE GRIT emery cloth going across the grain then a 320,400,600,800,1,500 grit sandpaper then buff a emery cake on a sisle wheel next with a stiff wheel a stainless compound finally a chrome rouge on a soft wheel.
