Electropolishing for ultra-high vacuum
2004
Dear Sir,
The following is my query regarding the electropolishing of SS304L tube: I have few SS-304L tubes running in a vacuum environment (ultra high vacuum environment, E-7 torr), carrying water at velocity of 5 m/sec, and inlet/outlet temperature 30/90 °C respectively to cool some of the components. I would like to know does these tube should be electropolished before placing them in vacuum environment? For vacuum compatibility, I may have to electropolish the outer surface, but does the inner surface also to be electropolish to prevent the corrosion. I just want to know what would be the implications 1.) on vacuum point of view, if the outer surface is not electropolished? 2.) on corrosion point of view, if the inner surface is not electropolished? I will very much appreciate if you help me to give your comments/suggestions in this regards.
With my best regards,
