Friction Factor for EN

We use the electroless nickel process with good results. We have been requested to use a modified process "nika flex". I understand the key difference being the elevated cure temperature. The purpose being improved corrosion resistance. What type friction factor should be expected on metal surface machined to a 63 RMS finish.

The coefficient of friction for high phosphorus EN without lubrication is about 0.4 - 0.45 either as-deposited or with normal heat treatments (<750 °F). I am not familiar with "nika flex". However, if this is a high temperature diffusion type treatment (1100 or 1200F), be careful that an inert atmosphere is used. Otherwise, a tenacious, olive colored oxide will form that probably will increase friction significantly.
