What metal other than nickel for belly piercings?

I'm planning on getting my belly button pierced but I'm allergic to Nickel so what kind of type of metal can I use that doesn't contain nickel?

You can use platinum, gold, silver, bronze (copper-tin), etc, BUT you must ensure these metal items are free of any nickel. I suggest you get documentation from the jeweler stating the items are nickel free, so if you do show a nickel allergy from them, you can sue him! Alternatively, come to Europe and get it done here - nickel is banned for this type of use and you are certain of getting nickel-free sleepers and inserts.

Titanium is my favorite choice for pierces with allergies. Its also widely available in the piercing industry in many styles for an affordable price.

You can also use titanium (either the 6-4 alloy or commercially pure, CP) or CCM (for cobalt-chrome-moly, a common implant metal). There are a few stainless steels you could use, such as CarTech's BioDur 108, a specialty no-nickel grade for implant use- lots cheaper than Ti or CCM.
