Metal staining
One of my hobbies is the welding together of steel rods from 2.5 mm dia. to 5 mm dia. to form the impression of a sailing boat crashing through the waves. After many attempts I have finally got the shape I like, I have tried spray painting them and they look ok but they would look far better if I could somehow stain the steel in various colours. Is there any way I can do this?

You can try heat tinting (carbon steel up to 315 °C, stainless steel to 600 °C).
Good luck!
