Iron Oxide removal

2004

Hello,

I'm doing heat transfer experiment using steam. We're exposing a copper plate coated lightly (50 micrometer) with silver alloy. The problem is, after I expose the plate to the steam, the plate gets dirty because of Iron Oxide deposition. Is anyone have any idea how to remove the Iron Oxide deposition on my plate without rubbing it? like spay it with some chemical or something like that.

Thank you,

Something is missing here. Copper, silver (alloy) and steam yielding iron oxide. Not possible from what you gave. What is the source of the iron? Are there any chemicals in your steam, as in a boiler?
