Decoating of TiN coated tools

We are limited company in TiN / AlTiN / CrN / TiCN coating. We are recoating on cutting tools. We have decoating procedure by chemical use, but it takes more time in decoating. I want to know best decoating procedure of hss TiN tool (particularly hob/gear cutting shear cutter) without affecting material and it would decoat material within 1 hr of 4 micron coating layer?

Hi, Ghataliya. Please tell us the procedure you are using that you are finding unsatisfactory because it takes more than an hour.

Sorry that no one answered you, but it's probably because nobody wants to spend their time carefully writing up a procedure for you which you may well instantly dismiss, saying "that's what we do; it takes too long" :-)

Please start by describing what you are presently doing. Thanks!

Mr. Ted is correct.

There are many simple, economical and fast techniques to strip all Ti based coatings.

would you mind let us know what is the present procedure?

It is possible to de-TiN using electrochemical method. Use TiN coated material as anode and another material as cathode.
