Additives for grain size control in plating

Urgent. Hi, I'm a Ph.D student in the Metallurgical and Materials Engr. dept. of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. I am trying to produce electro plated surface of different metals (i.e Ni, Cr, Fe) with fine grain size.

But the grain size control reagents known are less in no through literature. Can anybody give me the source from where I can know about these type of reagents. I would also like to know more about co-deposition (for producing alloyed surface). For this any advanced book or hand book are available or not?

Hello Anindya. Many electrochemists spend their entire career on development of additives for a single plating process, and most of the best grain refiners are proprietary, but if you do a computerized literature search using 'grain refiner' as your search term, you should find quite a good bit of info.

As for the book you seek, it's not cheap but Brenner's two-volume "Electrodeposition of Alloys" is exactly what you're asking for.
