Surface treatment for hardened components

At present we use Zinc-cobalt plating for hardened components. But we are not happy with the results. Adhesion is poor and corrosion resistance is up to 72 hrs of salt spray test.

1. What is Zinc-Nickel electro-plating?

2. Does it call for Hydrogen relief treatment if hardened components are zinc-Nickel plated?

3. How is it superior to Zinc-cobalt or Zinc-Cyanide plating in terms of adhesion and corrosion resistance.

4. Who does Zinc-Nickel plating in / around Mumbai?

Mr Bhide,

ZN CO alloy stands up to 450-500 Hrs when applied correctly and is chromated correctly. To White Rust.

2) Zinc Nickel can stand 1000 Hours when ditto as above.

3) There is a Mr Vahanwala who owns a shop in Bangalore Saify Ind [a finishing.com supporting advertiser], and when he sees this he will get to you in quick succession and solve your problems.

4) Poor adhesion is a Pretreatment related problem, Hardening is not a disqualification from plating. It simply implies a different cleaning activation cycle was needed.

Good Luck,

LOL! Dear Mr Nurie, Alas we can't win 'em all! Bangalore is too far away from Mumbai to work with Mr Bhide!
