Alkali washing problems

Dear sir, while doing 0.5% hot alkali washing of aluminium components machined by using neat cutting oil, pH of the alkali dropped to 4 pH from 8 pH. why? After alkali wash, components undergo anodizing treatment. Can I use kerosene vapour degreasing instead of alkali?

No. Use vapor degreasing before alkaline cleaning rather than as a substitute for it.

Hi,

If your lubricant is emulsified , pre wash with hot water then use an inhibited alkaline cleaner. or follow TED'S vapour degreasing.
