Recovery of gold from polypropylene and carbon filter cartridges
Q. We use polypropylene filter cartridges, to filter gold electrolyte, and we carbon pack once / twice in a month. We are unable to use it for third time as it is getting choked up, so we replace with a new cartridge. Now my question is: How to to reclaim entrapped gold from used /carbon packed polypropylene filter cartridges? I normally wash with hot water, and electrolytically extract gold, but still the cartridge contains gold. How to recover entire gold from the used cartridge? Suggestions?

This is a simple, routine job for a precious metal refinery, Mukesh. Have you none within reasonable shipping distances? Good luck.

My expertise is metal finishing, including plating, not refining, Mukesh. I suggested that you send the cartridges to a refinery because that is what all the shops that I am familiar with do. If you already run a refinery yourself, I doubt that I or other metal finishers can contribute much to your knowledge of this subject.
All I can say is that my understanding is that a refinery normally starts by burning the ion exchange resins, not by trying to recover the gold by rinsing. Good luck.

Sorry, Mukesh, I am not qualified to advise on the dangers, if any, that are associated with the refining of gold and the burning of plastics. But I have never heard of thyoxin, and an internet search of that word is not producing anything relevant. Sorry.

Q. Hi, I have 0.020% of gold in 15% copper sulphate ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] solution, so I want to recover the gold. Please help me out.
My question is based on some project that I have 900 liters of copper sulphate solution, and in that we have 0.020% of gold. We have generated that gold totally by electroplating method.
