Non nitric acid bright finishing

2004

Been reading some of the stuff on the finishing.com website and it is a world of information,

We have a problem in that we need to achieve a high quality finish,

We have considered using Vibro finishing but our parts are made from aluminium 6063 35 mm tubing and are 2 foot by 2 foot by 35 mm, so the Vibro machine is quite big, and we will only get 2 parts in the machine per run.

So we are considering a chemical process of cleaning and brightening, Where we could do a batch of by dipping the parts in a process of several Tanks.

However the Chemicals that are used for best results is Phosphoric, sulfuric and Nitric Acids. Heated and cooled to very controlled temperatures making the Process dangerous require Scrubbers for the Toxic Fumes.

We are located in UK and there is no current suppliers for this Process.

Currently these parts are scrubbed by hand with Scotching Pads and Wire Brushed at the areas where suit deposits are from welding, this gives a brushed matte finish but we wanted to improve this to a brighter finish.

As we wanted to integrate this process in house but if possible avoid the use of the Lethal Chemicals and a process that require considerable experience to operate.

However  we have been told that there is chemicals that obviously don't give as bright a finish but don't give off the large quantities of NOX.

Do you know what such chemicals are and who could supply them, as we would prefer to do a process without the Heating of the chemicals.
