Filtering solutions
We are researching filtering our plating solutions and acid etch tanks. What it the best method, equipment and what exchange rates should we use?

The Metal Finishing Guidebook and Directory has a nice section on filtration, including a table of recommended turnover rates, filter porosity, filter material, etc.

Preferences in filtering systems is a nearly constant arguement mush like Ford Vs Chevrolet and etc. There is a lot of manufacturers and an unlimited amount of dealers and vendors reps around. Serfilco has a lot of good information of filtering plating solutions. There equipment is good. Their catalogue is horrible unless you enjoy the pain of excess options that are not obvious. Flow King has as good a pump as anybodies and they are over in a suburb of Orlando, which is not prohibitively far from you for a business trip for education. Their magnum filter is a bit messy, but is considerably cheaper for the filtermedia than cartriges and is reuseable if you do not mind the mess of cleaning it. Remember, any pump can suck half or less than what it can put out on the exhaust side.

Mustafa: Click on the button labeled "Chemicals, Equipment & Services", then 'Find' the word "filter". You'll see a good number of suppliers who will probably be happy to send you information.
