Streaky anodizing
What is the best grade of aluminum (1050/sic or 5251/ns4) to clear anodize? At the moment we have a panel that is grained horizontally, after it has been anodized we are getting a streaky effect vertically. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening ?

Assuming that "grained" means sanded or blasted, you have probably imbedded iron and/or other junk into the surface. Etch longer at a lower temperature, transfer faster, deoxidize longer, and let us know.
