Plating options to avoid cadmium

Hi Ted, anybody can guide me in plating issue. I need to go for substitution of cadmium plating to zinc plating with chromate treatment for springs...will it give the same specs?

Cadmium is an element, and elements have properties. No substitute for cadmium has the same properties as the element, so there is no "across the board equivalent". However, zinc alloy platings of different types have enjoyed good success in thousands of applications, and offer good appearance and corrosion resistance. Zinc-nickel with chromate treatment has been successful in a number of similar applications.

I would try using a Zinc-Tin alloy plating solution which is widely regarded as the industry replacement for Cadmium in the UK. This should give the properties of corrosion resistance that you may be looking for. I also agree with Ted that Zinc-Nickel may also help.

As Zinc-Nickel costs too much and Tin zinc baths don't exist in India ...
adv.
please utilise the services of our firm for zinc-iron plating, which may equal the performance that you need.
