Is this yellow ring my stolen white gold ring?

How could I tell if my 14kt yellow gold ring was white gold originally? I found my one of a kind ring that was stolen years ago but it has shown up in yellow gold.

Thank you,

With a magnifying glass, look at the wear areas (corners, points, edges). If you see any white color, it is plated with gold. Rub a few times with a pencil eraser. If it is yellow gold plated over white gold you will see the color difference when you cut through the thin yellow gold. If the object is solid yellow gold, you'll see no difference - someone copied the ring.
