Testing the difference between anodized and Alodined coatings
I am working on a problem for my engineering senior design class involving rivets on an aircraft lap joint. I was wondering if anyone knew how to test the difference between Alodined and anodized coatings.

Anodizing is an excellent insulator; Alodine is a brand name for a MIL-C-5541 conversion coating which are conductive. Conductivity won't guarantee that the finish is Alodine, nor resistance guarantee that the finish is anodization. But, if you know it's one or the other, a simple multi-meter will disclose which it is in an instant.
