MgB2 by Sol-Gel technique
I am a research student in shivaji University kolhapur India and doing PhD in MgB2 superconductors. I want to synthesize the MgB2 by a very different technique i.e by Sol-Gel technique . Is it possible to do so. Please list the difficulties in doing so and possible solutions.

letter 25103 involved a similar problem. Traditional sol-gel methods using water cannot be used due to oxide formation. Typical MgB2 syntheses include reaction of elemental powders, hot pressing of MgB2 powder, reaction of Mg vapor with B whiskers, alternating deposits of Mg and B by PVD followed by sintering, etc. These processes use inert gas or vacuum or encapsulation. A PhD requires original research, so seek processes not previously used for MgB2. E.g., anhydrous sol-gel processes, such as "B4C Synthesized by a Non-Oxide Sol-Gel Process." Also, Si3N4 filament growth via CVD from gaseous SiHx and NH3. Investigate the formation of TiB2, which has the same structure as MgB2. Also, the reaction of MgH2 with B2H6 seems thermodynamically favorable. Please report any results. Good luck.

I am a research student of University of Kalyani, India. I am doing my research on MgB2. I have prepared Thin film of MgB2 samples on Si but facing some difficulties to make ohmic-contacts on them while measuring Tc by four-probe method, what is the detailed procedure of making ohmic-contact? Is Indium soldering the process?
