Stainless steel 304 grade details

2004

Respected sir,

I am a final year engineering student studying in sri ramakrishna engineering college, coimbatore, tamilnadu state. We are doing the project based on " thermal yarn conditioning" . For that we designed an yarn conditioning chamber made up of stainless steel 304 grade. We need the clear technical specifications about stainless steel 304 grade such as its physical properties, chemical properties, and its advantages compared to the other stainless steel grades. If you send the details through the mail to me it will be very useful for our project. Please help us.

Thanking you, yours sincerely,

C.Suresh

You really, really want to go to the Nickel Development Institute's website at nidi.com, and download several of their publications on stainless steel. I'd suggest you start with #9014, "Design Guidelines for Selection and Use of Stainless Steel". Other good sites include the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (can you guess what their initials are?) and efunda.com. Good luck!
