Repairing a hydraulic cylinder by chrome plating

2004

I am trying to repair a hydraulic cylinder used on aircrafts. The cylinder must be repaired if defects on the cylinder bore exceed .00005 inch with a maximum bore diameter of 3.997 and a minimum of 3.994 and a surface roughness of 16 microinches rms. I looking for the proper type of plating procedure to bring the cylinder back into spec.

You didn't mention how is the cylinder now. This condition will dictate the proper procedure for restoration or the need to replace it. What confuses me is that if you're dealing with aeronautical or aerospace applications you should have a detailed spec to follow. Our opinion, no matter how good, is not important.
