Can you powder coat an engine after it's assembled?
I'm building a 347 Ford V8 engine. I would like the block & heads to be powder coated rather than spray painted. My question is, can you powder coat an engine block & heads with the crank, pistons & valves already installed or would they have to be bare block & heads & then install the components ?

Brendan,
Unfortunately all Components to be powder coated on your engine need to be bare and un-assembled. Powder Coating would be best done in the pre-machining stage after the parts have been crack tested & chemically cleaned.
Please be aware that some powder coaters aren't interested in doing engine parts as most are porous castings that hold oil and rewen the final finish or the parts are heavy solid items that take hours of oven time to get to curing temperature.
