316 vs 316L for see water use
I need to install stainless steel anchor bolts in see water. Does anybody knows the difference between SS316 and SS316L in regard of resistance to corrosion ? (I heard that there is no difference between both except the 316 will loose its characteristics if you weld it.) Thank you for your advice.

Typically, 316L will have a greater corrosion resistance in a chloride (seawater) matrix. The L designation refers to a low carbon steel.

316L will definitely give you better salt water resistance.
