Removing oxidation from aluminum sheets

I'm trying to find an economical and quick way to remove oxidation from 2024-T3 and 7075-T6 Sheet. I've tried some commercial aluminum cleaner, made for the truck cleaning industry with no luck. The sheets are white in spots, but have no material damage, just discoloration. Any tricks or tips.

Dear Steve,

I'm no an expert in aluminum finishing, just a suggestion, try with 2-4% trisodium phosphate this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] @ slightly elevated temp.

Questions as follows:

1. I presume this material was procured in the final heat treat temper. Was any thermal processing performed on this material?

2. What are the storage conditions like?

3. Is this full sheet material or fabricated parts?

I would suggest a phosphoric acid blended with some surfactant.

Hi,

Brush these locally.
Then keep in running 20 % HCl or NaOH solution for few second. If thickness is to be maintained or you don't like the surface leaching then try it locally.
Once it is done, wash it with water.

With best wishes:
