Ion Vapor Deposition over Electroless Nickel Plate
Our company has Aerospace components that are corrosion resistant coated with electroless nickel plate; the substrate material is C1117, (.0003 to .0005 in thick per MIL-C-26074 [on DLA] ). This thickness has proved to be insufficient, for units returned from the field have areas corroded with rust. Can ion vapor deposition of aluminum be applied locally to this component over the existing electroless nickel plate(with proper masking)for rework? What are typical exposure temperatures for the IVD process?

You should be able to IVD deposit aluminum over the nickel plate, provided that the parts are thoroughly cleaned beforehand. The IVD deposition temperature is pretty low -- it's often used on aluminum components.
