I have piece parts coated as MIL-C-5541 Class 1A and it always be seriously scratched, so please help If surface hardness and color difference are strictly specified in MIL-C-5541?
Thanks,
Roger Yuproduct engineer - Qingdao, Shandong, China
Chromate conversion coatings for MIL-C 5541 have healing properties enough to migrate over small scratches, but not large ones or abrasions. Abraded and scratched aluminum can be re-coated with the chromate by "brush on" techniques. Electroless nickel will protect against scratches. This is a hard deposit and protective of aluminum.
